The goal of our teen ministry is to engage teenagers instead of just speaking "at" them. To engage someone is to get them to think. It is to invite them to add valuable insight to a discussion or an idea so that they start arriving at conclusions on their own.
The teenage years are a critical time for spiritual development, and most adults just tell teenagers what they should think.
Tetelestai's teen ministry is a bit different...
Brian and Jennifer Mesick are the teen ministry leaders, and they are here to facilitate - to encourage the really hard questions and to intelligently approach difficult topics together with the teens. We do not force participation, but we foster an environment where anyone can feel comfortable to voice an opinion, ask any question, and participate without fear of embarrassment. We are all here to learn together, but we do it in a fun way. You might even win a gift card every now and then!
...and to know Him. That is the purpose by which we are driven in our sessions. Our lessons center around your identity in Christ (Gal 2:16, Gal 2:20, John 1:12-13), understanding your relationship with Him (Romans 8:15), and knowing that God has a purpose and a plan for your life (Jer 29:11). Our format for each session is generally as follows:
You will be heard. You will be challenged... challenged to reflect on what you have learned, what you believe, and why you believe it. And if you are open to it, we can promise that God will bring you to a virtually unconditioned certainty of your beliefs.
Let's discover God. Together.
